Obituary of Margaret Fox

Margaret T. Fox, 97, passed away peacefully on May 6th at Allegria at Ocean Grove where she had resided since 2015. Marge, as she was always called, was born in Jersey City, NJ in 1924, to Lawrence Heyer and Margaret Smith Heyer. She was a graduate of the Academy of St. Aloysius in Jersey City and loved getting together with her fellow alumna at The Academy’s annual luncheons. Upon graduation, Marge was employed by the Phone Company in NYC for ten years. Her career as a comptometrist ended when she married the love of her life, Joseph Fox, and was happily married for fifty-four years until his death in 2005. Marge and Joe settled in Milltown, NJ and lived there together for over fifty years, while raising their five children. Marge’s Catholic faith was very important to her. She and Joe were communicants of Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church. Marge was a past president of the Altar Rosary Society and leader in the P.T.A. of OLOL School. She also was a member of the Tara Association of Middlesex County. Marge and Joe enjoyed traveling, especially to New England and Ireland, the Jersey Shore for family vacations in Avon-by-the-Sea, and to the Florida beaches in the winters during their retirement. Marge also loved drawing, crafts, flower arranging, shopping, dancing and eating ice cream. She was known by her grandchildren for being a good sport in a family of “smart-alecks”. Marge is survived by her sister, Rose Marie Fox of Milltown. She was the devoted mother of Chaille Lazar and her husband Steven, of Fair Oaks Ranch, TX, her son Lawrence Fox and his wife Ann Marie of Bradley Beach, her daughter Patricia Healey and her husband Michael of Bradley Beach, her son Joseph Fox of Flanders, and her daughter Carol Olson and her husband Steven, of Ridgewood. She was the cherished grandmother of thirteen grandchildren: Courtney and husband Chris, Meredith and husband Blake, Brian and wife Christina, Kaitlin and husband Brad, Timothy and wife Courtney, Patrick and wife Leah, Steven, Megan and husband Ryan, Elizabeth, Cletis, Tara, Gregory, and Maeve. Marge was great-grandmother to fourteen great-grandchildren residing in Canada, Texas, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. She’s also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
