Obituary of Yolanda Egan

Yolanda Louise Egan peacefully passed away in the company of her loving family on Sunday, December 9th.  Yolanda was the beloved wife of Assemblyman Joseph V. Egan.  Yolanda and Joe were happily married for almost 60 years. 

Yolanda was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, one of eight children, to Italian Immigrants, Ezlinda and Marco Nigro. She attended Saint Mary’s Grammar School and Saint Peter’s High School, both in New Brunswick.  It’s at Saint Peter’s High School where she met her future husband, Joe.

Yolanda was a faithful parishioner at Saint Peter’s Roman Catholic Church.  She was involved in many charities including Saint Peter’s School PTA as President, Saint Peter’s University Hospital Foundation as Auxiliary President and Saint Peter’s University Hospital as a member of the Board of Trustees.

For more than 40 years Yolanda oversaw Saint Peter’s Hospital Coffee and Gift Shop. If you worked at or visited Saint Peter’s you knew Yolanda.

Yolanda will be remembered for her kindness and generosity. She was a constant volunteer, giving of her time and heart. Yolanda radiated happiness and had a wonderful sense of humor. She loved her family and friends and they loved her in return. In addition to her passion for helping others, Yolanda will also be remembered for her love of the Jersey Shore especially being with family and friends on the beach.  

Yolanda will be deeply missed by all of her family, especially her husband Joe, sons Joey and his wife Alison, Tim, Kevin and his wife Sue and daughter Patty Biggio and her husband Craig. She adored her grandchildren and was known as Nana to Conor, Tim Jr., Cavan, Lindsay, Patrick, Colin and Quinn. 

Yolanda is also survived by her loving sisters and brothers-in-law, Tani Presutto, Ann Greenberg and her husband Hank, Mary Graff, and Barbara Druiett and her husband Jim, her sisters and brothers-in-law, Catherine Doyle, Thomas and Sandy Egan, Eileen Mueller, Richard and Doreen Egan and James and Cathy Egan as well as her many nieces and nephews.

The wake is at Saint Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, 94 Somerset Street, New Brunswick, New Jersey on Friday, December 14th from 4pm to 8pm. The Funeral Mass will also be held at Saint Peter’s on Saturday, December 15th at 10am.
