Obituary of Stella Slocum

Stella Woytow Slocum, 94, of Edison, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, May 9, 2017. Daughter of the late Stephen and Anna Woytow, she was born in Raritan and resided in Edison most of her life. She served in the United States Army and was a member of the Women's Army Corp. Upon being honorably discharged, she was employed by W.T. Grant and Sons and later retired from the State of New Jersey Unemployment Office in New Brunswick. She was a Co-Founder of the W.A.C. Vet's Chapter 52, and was Past Commander of the Raritan Valley Veteran's Alliance. Mrs. Slocum was predeceased by her beloved husband of 51 years Retired U.S Army Major, Raymond A. Slocum in 2000. Surviving are her daughter Jo Ann Garland and her husband Robert of Edison, her sons Raymond A. Slocum II and his wife Bernadette of San Diego, CA, and Stephen Slocum and his partner June Miller of Roseville, CA; her grandchildren Dawn Marie Slocum and her fiancé Joe Christian, Kari Promutico, Kelly Perez and her husband Jack, Rocco Promutico II and his wife Diana, Brooke Menendez and her husband Mike, and Loyana Martinez and her husband Joe Baxter; as well as her great-grandchildren Kaitlyn Nagurka, Allison, William, and Michael Slocum, Samantha, Christopher, and Danielle Watsey, and Cecilia Promutico and many nieces and nephews. Interment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Boylan Funeral Home, Edison.
