Obituary of Theresa McCoola

Theresa McCoola, 87, of Edison, passed away Saturday March 4, 2017 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Dupont, PA she was a resident of Edison for 59 years. She was an active communicant of St. Matthew the Apostle Church, a member of the Legion of Mary and the Altar Rosary Society, and a Eucharistic Minister at Edison Estates. She enjoyed many years as a member of the Red Hats. Theresa was an administrative assistant at Rutgers University for 25 years, working in several of the colleges throughout her career and then in her 50's attended classes at night to complete her college education as she had long ago promised her father that she would get a college degree. Theresa was friendly and helpful to all, and was admired for her patience and perseverance. She valued the importance of family and maintained communication with her extended family. She enjoyed traveling throughout the US and abroad with her husband and later with other groups. She even visited relatives in Poland as part of her travels. Theresa was predeceased by her husband, Joseph; brothers, John, Walter, Henry, Frank and Alex Zondlo; and a sister, Jane Zondlo. She is survived by her children Diane Venezia of Wadsworth, OH, Edward McCoola of Durango, CO, Gary McCoola and his wife Joy of Glens Falls, NY, and Elaine McCoola of Robbinsville, NJ; brother Felix Zondlo; sisters Mildred Mlodzienski and Sr. Cecilia Zondlo; along with 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, March 9, 2017 from 6-9PM at Boylan Funeral Home, 10 Wooding Avenue, Edison. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, 9:30AM at St. Matthew the Apostle Church, Edison. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Piscataway.
