Obituary of John Himmelberger

John Morris Himmelberger, 89, of Monroe Township, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Willow Creek Rehabilitation and Care Center in Somerset. Born in East Orange, he was raised in Boonton, and resided in Edison most of his life before moving to Monroe 18 years ago. Mr. Himmelberger served in the United States Army before being honorably discharged. He was a Sales Administrator for various companies before retiring from Skill Power Tools in 1990. He was gifted musically, and enjoyed playing and giving piano lessons. He also enjoyed building model ships, camping, fishing, traveling and in recent years could often be found playing pool with friends at Rossmoor. He was predeceased by his first wife Elizabeth Himmelberger in 1998, his second wife Audrey Wood in 2009, and his sister Jean Brune. Surviving are his son Robert Himmelberger of Woodbridge, and daughter Nancy Yatsko and her husband James of Long Beach Township; along with 4 nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Monday, February 20 from 9 - 10:30 am at Boylan Funeral Home 10 Wooding Ave., Edison, followed by an 11 am Mass at St. Matthew's R.C. Church in Edison. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Piscataway. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory can be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478 Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
