Obituary of Mae Howell

Mae Howell, 87, of Edison, passed away on February 3, 2017 at The Francis E. Parker Memorial Home at Landing Lane in New Brunswick. Mae was born in New Brunswick in 1929 to Abraham and Mae Van Derveer. She was a graduate of New Brunswick High School and was a licensed beautician for several years. She lived in New Brunswick for 28 years before moving to Highland Park. Mae resided in Highland Park for 25 years and moved to Edison in 1983 where she resided for 31 years prior to relocating to Parker Home in 2014. Before retiring in 1992, Mae worked for NJ Bell/Verizon as a telephone operator for 23 years. Following her retirement, she work part time as a cashier at Stop & Shop on Inman Avenue in Edison for 20 years. In Mae's free time she enjoyed bingo, puzzle books, crocheting, needlework, and going to the Jersey Shore. She loved spending time with her family and adored her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed. Mae was predeceased by her husband Edward P. Howell in 1984, her parents, and her sister Adella Remsing. She is survived by her loving daughter Kathleen M. Horvath and her husband Edward S. Horvath, and her grandchildren Kelly and Thomas Horvath, all of Edison. Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm at Boylan Funeral Home, 10 Wooding Avenue in Edison. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 10 am at St. Helena Roman Catholic Church on Grove Avenue in Edison. Entombment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, New Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to The Francis E. Parker Memorial Home, 1421 River Road, Piscataway, NJ 08854.
