Obituary of William Pfeifer

William L. "Bill" Pfeifer of New Brunswick, died peacefully on Saturday, October 15, 2016 following an extended stay at the Parker at Mc Carrick Care Center in Somerset, NJ. He was 92. Born in New Brunswick in 1924, Bill was pre-deceased by his late parents, Helen and John Pfeifer, as well five siblings and their spouses. A 1945 graduate of St. Peter's High School, Bill proudly served his country during WWII as a B.M., first class, aboard the USS Biscayne, where he earned the nickname "Blue Eyes", a moniker that endured through the years and was sustained by regular reunions with his old Navy pals, gatherings he looked forward to and relished. Throughout the bulk of his career, Bill was employed with the Local 9 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. Bill was predeceased by the late Alys Sutton Pfeifer in 1962 and later by Ann M. Pfeifer, in 2014 following a 46 year-marriage. Bill is survived by his daughter, Anne Pfeifer-Ward (Michael) and son, William "Billy" (Maryanne) as well as grandchildren Billy, Carter and Riley and two great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to pay respects on Tuesday, October 18 from 4-8 p.m. at Boylan Funeral Home, 188 Easton Avenue, New Brunswick. On Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 10 a.m., a Funeral Mass will be celebrated by William's nephew, the Very Reverend Joseph M. Curry at St. Mary of Mt. Virgin Church, New Brunswick. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation is encouraged to the Parker at Mc Carrick Care Center Recreation Department to endow recreational programs offered at the facility and an important of Bill's final years.
