Obituary of Edgar Wittmer Sr.

Edgar William Wittmer Sr. passed away peacefully on Friday, September 16, 2016 at Summer Hill Nursing Home Old Bridge, NJ. Born in Fairview, NJ, he resided in Edison most his life. As a young man Edgar proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. Following his service, he got a BA in Business and started his career as an Accountant. He worked for several accounting firms throughout his career before his retirement from KPMG in 1992. Edgar enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life such as gardening or crabbing with his 3 sons. Mr. Wittmer was also a NY Yankee and Giants fan. He was a proud husband; father, grandfather and great grandfather and he loved his family dearly. Edgar was also a lifelong member of St Paul Lutheran Church in Edison. Edgar is predeceased by his loving wife Charlotte Rollman Wittmer in 1997, his parents Frank and Lillian Fischer Wittmer and his two sisters Almyra and Eleanor. Surviving are his 8 children, Sons, David of Highland Park, Edgar Jr and Gary both of Edison, Daughters Diane and John of Edison, Lori and Vincent of South Amboy, Lisa and Glen of Ocean Township, Gail and Lee of Kerhonkson, N.Y., and Cheryl and Blaise of Cary, N.C. Also surviving is nephew Alan and Paulette, 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 at Boylan Funeral Home, 10 Wooding Avenue, Edison. Church service will take place on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 11AM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church 445 Old Post Road, Edison. Entombment will take place at Cloverleaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge following church.
