Sr. Spille

Obituary of Sr. Spille

Richard (Dick) Spille Sr., 90, of Dennis Township, formerly of Sayreville and New Brunswick, succumbed to an infection and died in the hospital on Wednesday, March 23rd. Always a towering figure in the family both literally and figuratively, he led by example. He had dozens of great stories and was always quick to share. Many of them came from his time in the United States Navy, when he served in World War Two; he enlisted when he was 17. Many other tales came from his time as an Inspector with the Alcoholic Beverage Control of the New Jersey State Police. He was our archetype of the Greatest Generation and our hearts are now heavy with his loss and the loss of his stories to the sands of time. May he now finally rest in peace and be with the Saints. He is predeceased by his son (Richard Jr.) and his wife, Florence (nee, Roskowski) and survived by his three daughters Paula Infosino (William), Karen Gruber (Stuart), Joyce Bickham (Brett), daughter-in-law Patricia Spille, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 28, 2016 at Boylan Funeral Home 188 Easton Avenue in New Brunswick from 11 am - 1 pm. A Blessing will be held at 1 pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery in New Brunswick.
