Marika O'Rourke, 61, of Somerset, passed away Tuesday February 9, 2016 at St. Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick. She was a teacher at St. Peter's Elementary School in New Brunswick, and most recently provided Community Based Instruction at Piscataway Regional Day School. Marika received the Governor's Teacher of the Year Award in 2009. She was also an Officer and Member of NJEA. Marika is survived by her husband Brien T. O'Rourke; children, Joseph Matthew Democritos, Bridget Catherine O'Rourke, and John Francis O'Rourke; mother, Mary Democritos; a brother, Nicholas Democritos; and a sister, Christine Democritos. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday February 13, 2016, 10:30AM at St. Peter's Church, New Brunswick. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Friday, February 12, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9PM at Boylan Funeral Home, 188 Easton Avenue, New Brunswick.
