Obituary of Helen Matyas

Helen (Ilona) Matyas, 87, formerly of New Brunswick, died Sunday, January 17, 2016 at her home in Hallandale Beach, FL. She was born in Ungvar, Hungary, coming to New Brunswick in 1948 and residing there until retiring to Florida in 1999. Helen spent 24 years working at Revlon, Inc. in Edison. Helen lived and raised a family in New Brunswick for over 50 years. She was an active member of St. Ladislaus Parish and the School PTA, taking part in numerous parish and school sponsored activities. She was active in a variety of cultural events supporting the Hungarian community. She enjoyed the company of her friends, loved cooking and baking, attending shows, shopping and being around her grandchildren. Her culinary skills and talents were well-known to those that knew her. She was the devoted wife of Bill (Bela deceased) for 62 years, taking care of him through his infirmity; mother of Peter and his wife Monica of Delray Beach, FL and Michael and his wife Cindy of Robbinsville; grandmother of Nicole, Andrew and Amanda. Funeral services will be held at the Boylan Funeral Home, 188 Easton Ave in New Brunswick on Friday, January 22. Relatives and friends may visit from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Mass will follow at St. Ladislaus RC Church in New Brunswick at 11:00 AM, followed by internment at St. Peter's Cemetery, New Brunswick.
