Karen Hayes (nee Zielinski) 68, formerly of New Brunswick, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2015 at St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem, PA surrounded by her family. Born in Manhattan, NY, she resided most of her life in New Brunswick before moving to Bethlehem seven years ago. Mrs. Hayes retired as an Administrative Assistant with the New Brunswick Fire Department, and was previously employed with St. Peter's High School and the New Brunswick Senior Citizens Center. She was a communicant at St. Peter's R.C. Church in New Brunswick. She was predeceased by her beloved husband James Hayes in 2009. Surviving are her three sons James Hayes Jr. of Phillipsburg, Jason Hayes and his wife Mary of Bethlehem, PA, and Justin Hayes of Bethlehem, PA; her grandchildren Mikayla, Hunter, Mackenzie, Vaughn, and Chase; her brothers and sisters in-law Fred and Terry Zielinski, Steven and Helen Zielinski, Robert and Anne Zielinski, Jeffrey and Kathy Zielinski, and James and Eileen Zielinski; her sister Gail Gary; and sisters in-law Marie and Kathleen Hayes. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 3 at10 am from Boylan Funeral Home 188 Easton Avenue in New Brunswick, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at St. Peter's R.C. Church in New Brunswick. Cremation will be private. Visitation will be on Monday, November 2 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at the funeral home.
