John McKenzie

Obituary of John McKenzie

Jack, surrounded by the presence and love of his family, passed away at home on October 16, 2015. He has been reunited with his wife of 63 years, Frances J. Evanowski McKenzie, just four weeks after she went home to the Lord. A native of New Brunswick and resident for most of his life, Jack was a graduate of St. Peter's High School Class of 1945 and a lifelong parishioner of St. Peter the Apostle Church, where his graduating class celebrated a monthly mass for many years following their 50th reunion. Jack experienced travelling the sea at a young age as a member of the US Merchant Marines. He also honorably served in the US Army in the Korean War as a member of the 24th Infantry Division, 19th Battalion. Jack spent his entire working career with Bristol Myers Squibb, and was a pioneer of the computer age, attending the IBM School in NYC and working as a systems analyst. He was a member of BPOE Elk Lodge 324. Jack was a proud and wonderful father to "his five girls." Mourning his loss are his daughters, Eileen Rolon and husband Efrain of East Windsor, Marianne Morse and husband Stephen of Sea Bright, Margaret DeAngelis and husband Mario of Ringoes, Jacqueline McKenzie of Hillsborough and John Curcio of North Brunswick, Ellie Miller and her husband Scott of Somerset. He was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren who adored him and to whom he served as a wonderful role model, Anthony Barber and wife Claribel, Michael Barber, J.C. Curcio, Alexandra DeAngelis, Emmi Morse, Gregory DeAngelis, Kevin Curcio, Jeffery Morse, Matthew, Zachary and Jake Miller; and Elizabeth and Victoria Barber. He also loved and will be missed by his surviving sisters-in-law and the many nieces and nephews in the extended McKenzie and Evanowski families. Family and friends may pay their respects Tuesday, October 20, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Boylan Funeral Home, 188 Easton Avenue, New Brunswick. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 21, at St. Peter's R.C. Church in New Brunswick followed by entombment at St. Peter's Mausoleum.
