Joseph P Kelly Sr, 85, died peacefully surrounded by his family at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick on Sunday July 7, 2013. He was born and raised in County Longford in Ireland, before moving to Edison many years ago. He was a Ceramics Engineer for 30 years at Rutgers University in New Brunswick. He was a Veteran of The US Army serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the VFW, the Ancient Hibernians in Rahway and the Brunswick Shamrock Club. He was predeceased by his parents John and Mary Ellen Kelly; and his sister Annie Rowley. Joseph is survived by his wife Veronica Bohan Kelly; his daughters Mary Illes, Elizabeth Bobovnik, Kathy Larsen, and Eileen Varga; his sons Joseph Kelly Jr and Kieran Kelly; his brother Sean Kelly and his sisters Kathleen Mullen and Mary Barker; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Funeral services are Wednesday 10:15 am at the Boylan Funeral Home, 10 Wooding Ave. Edison; followed by an 11 am mass at Guardian Angels Church in Edison; entombment at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway. Family and friends may visit from 5-9 pm on Tuesday at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to "The Joseph Kelly Emmet Og G.A.A.
