Louise "Libby" Friedberg Schatzberg, 98, was born in New Brunswick, NJ on February 8, 1917. Her parents were Joseph and Mary Friedberg. She was the youngest of 8 children; 5 sisters Eva, Sally, Shirley, Martha, and Rose and 2 brothers Sam and Solly. She was married to Lazarus (Al) Schatzberg for 35 years; He died on January 7, 1974. Louise resided in Highland Park and raised her 3 children on Cleveland Avenue. A daughter, Marilyn Blanchard of New Brunswick; son, Sigmund Schatzberg and wife Kathy of Tamarac, Florida; daughter, Diane Bocchino and husband Bill of Edison. She was a devoted Grandmother of 8, great grandmother of 17 and great-great grandmother of 3. Louise was employed by Ethicon, a brand of Johnson and Johnson, starting her career at their Route 1, New Brunswick location and retired 28 years later from their Route 22, Somerville location. She was a member of Ethicon's 25 year club. She was also a member of the Highland Park Senior Center and in the past secretary of their Monday Club. A graveside service will be held Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. at Shalom Cemetery/Congregation Ahavas Achim, Route 27 in New Brunswick. Shiva will be held Thursday and Friday at her daughter Diane's home in Edison. Arrangements are under the direction of the Boylan Funeral Home in New Brunswick.
