Obituary of Barry Demarest

Barry C. Demarest, 69, died Monday, March 2, 2015 at home in Edison, NJ. Born in Jersey City, he lived in North Bergen before moving to Edison 48 years ago. Barry was employed as a detailer at Brannquell Iron Works in South Brunswick for 25 years, then as a contractor for PSE&G for 2 years and was recently employed at Papp Iron Works in Plainfield. Barry was a communicant of St. Matthew's R.C. Church and was the church's first Deacon, his other church memberships were Coordinator of the Right to Life group and Social Ministry and Coordinator for Eucharistic Ministries for the Home Bound. Barry was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in Edison. Barry was a graduate of Middlesex County College with an Associate's Degree in Civil Engineering. Surviving are his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Demarest (née Mellillo;) 2 sons, Paul and his wife Mary of Port Reading, and Glenn and his wife Cathy of Mount Holly; a daughter, Michele Campbell and her husband Koy of Highland Park, his brothers, Ronald and wife Alice of North Brunswick, Kenneth and wife Patricia of Woolwish, NJ, and William and wife Joan of Fort Lee, a sister Darlene Famular and her husband Al of Dover, DE and sister in-law Pattyann Demarest. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will take place Friday, March 6, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Matthew's Church in Edison; entombment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 5, at St. Matthew's Church, 81 Seymour Avenue in Edison from 9:15 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Deacon Barry Family Fund, PO Box 7, Edison, NJ 08817.
