Edward F. O'Rourke, 88, of New Brunswick, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015 at St. Peter's University Hospital Hospice in New Brunswick. Edward was born in New Brunswick and was a lifetime resident. Son of the late Lillian and William O'Rourke, Edward was a 1944 graduate of St. Peter High School, he also attended Rutgers University. Edward was a Veteran of World War II serving in the Navy in the South Pacific. Edward was employed by the City of New Brunswick for 30 years, He was Superintendent of Parks, Recreation, Public Property and Shade Tree Department. After retiring from the City he became Office Manager for the law firm Hoagland, Longo, Moran, Dunst, and Doukas for 13 years before retiring in 1995. Edward was a member of the New Brunswick Elks Lodge 324, and the New Brunswick Knights of Columbus. He was an avid golfer belonging to Rossmoor Golf Club for many years. Edward is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years E. Linda O'Rourke (née Orban;) his children, Karen Manetta and her husband Robert of East Brunswick, Edward P O'Rourke and his wife Donna and Eileen O'Rourke of Milltown; 4 grandchildren Brian Manetta and his wife Megan, Lisa Manetta, Robert (Bobby) Manetta and Eric O'Rourke. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 4, at 10:00 a.m. at the Boylan Funeral Home, 188 Easton Avenue in New Brunswick, followed by an entombment at Franklin Memorial Park in North Brunswick.
