Obituary of Emil Kovalchik

Emil Kovalchik, of Edison, died Thursday, January 22, 2015, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 85 years old. Born in Swoyerville, PA he lived in Newark before moving to Edison 55 years ago. Mr. Kovalchik was a financial analyst for over 39 years, retiring in 1991. Emil was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean War. His memberships include St. Paul the Apostle Church in Highland Park, Edison Elks Lodge # 2487, American Legion Father and Son Post in Edison, and a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Highland Park. He was a 1961 graduate of Seton Hall University with a B.S. in accounting. Surviving are his loving wife of 59 years, Doris Kovalchik (Nee Buynak;) 3 sons, Emil and his wife Kim of Tampa, FL, Michael and his wife Mary of Highland Park, Richard and his wife Helena of East Brunswick; 2 daughters, Denise Mollo and her husband Tom of Palm Bay, FL, and Lisa Lombardo and her husband Tim of Edison. Also surviving are 3 brothers, Nicholas, Paul, and Andrew and 12 grandchildren. Emil was predeceased by 7 brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 27, at 10:00 a.m. at the Boylan Funeral Home, 10 Wooding Avenue in Edison followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass at Transfiguration of the Lord Parish - St. Paul the Apostle Church in Highland Park. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway. Visitation will be on Monday, January 26 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
