Amelia "Mely" Sera, age 81, of Edison, died Thursday, December 18, 2014, at Brighton Gardens in Edison. Born in the Philippines, Amelia earned a Masters degree from the University of Santo Tomas, the Catholic University of the Philippines. In Manila, she was a highly commended high school teacher where she taught for over 15 years. When she came to the U.S. in 1971, she lived with her sister and her family. She would commute to New York City to teach. She met her beloved husband Andrew Sera and the couple was married in 1972. She loved to travel and see the world. Amelia also loved dogs. She was predeceased by her husband Andrew Sera in 2010. Amelia is survived by her brother Toti Ladioray, her sister Guillermina Gundy, her step daughter Lori Sera Stender and many other nieces and nephews. "Mely" had patience, compassion, sharing of oneself, and love she will be remembered by everyone that knew her. On Tuesday, December 23, family and friends are invited to the Boylan Funeral Home, 10 Wooding Avenue in Edison at 9:00 till 10:45 a.m. for a viewing, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. to be held at Sacred Heart Church in South Plainfield; entombment will follow at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens in Woodbridge.
