Obituary of Theodore Petix

Theodore A. Petix, 99, of Monroe Township died in the comfort of family at home in Rossmoor on Monday, October 13, 2014. Theodore was born July 14, 1915, in New York, NY to Angelo and Anna (Amendola) Petix. During his life Theodore resided in New York City, NY, Hyde Park, NY, Bridgewater, NJ, Deerfield Beach, FL., and Monroe Township, NJ. Theodore graduated for New York University in New York City with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked for 47 years for J. O. Ross Engineering, later called Midland Ross Corporation, in New York City and Highland Park, NJ. He began as a draftsman after college working on designing parts for airplane engines during World War II and throughout his career received numerous promotions until he was named Director of Engineering. Theodore has many commercial and industrial drying and heating equipment designs attributable to his name, including designs that are on file under his name with the U.S. Patent Office. Theodore was proud of the fact that he was involved throughout his life with church activities especially the Church Building Committees of Notre Dame Church in New Hyde Park, NY, Immaculate Conception Church in Somerville, NJ, and Nativity of Our Lord Church in Monroe Township, NJ. He was also active over the years in the Holy Name Society. While his sons were young Theodore was active as a Little League Coach and Cub Scout Pack Leader and his sons matured, he always instilled in his sons the importance of education. In recent years he was active in the Italian-American Club and Dance Club in Rossmoor, the adult community in which he lived for the past 25 years. He was also a founding member, and past president of the Rossmoor Bocci Club earning the name "Mr. Bocci". Throughout his life Theodore enjoyed golf, bridge, bowling, bocci, music, photography, ballroom dancing and traveling throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Israel, and the Caribbean. He also enjoyed home improvements, woodworking, and stained glass but he also enjoyed the peacefulness of reading or completing a crossword or jigsaw puzzle. Theodore was predeceased by his devoted wife of 62 years, Beatrice (Rovere) Petix. His four brothers, Joseph Petix of Syosset, NY, Domenic Petix of Harrison, NY, Louis Petix of White Plains, NY and Michael Petix of White Plains, NY, and Daughter-in-law Carmela Petix of Macungie, PA also predecease him. Surviving are his three sons, Richard Petix and his wife Natalie of New City, NY, Kenneth Petix of Bethlehem, PA, and Douglas Petix and his wife Laura of New Brunswick, NJ, his six grandchildren Christopher Petix, Donna Kitchell, Alison Petix-Buschbacher, Kevin Petix, Karen Whalen and Brian Petix, in addition to nine great-grandchildren, Breanna, Thomas, Michael, Christopher, Madison, Jack, Ryan, Gavin, Owen. A sister, Anna Piede of Atlanta, GA, Also survives him. He is also survived by his devoted caregiver ("daughter") Lydia Lawson. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 17, at 9:00 a.m. from the Boylan Funeral Home, 188 Easton Avenue in New Brunswick followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass at St. Peter the Apostle Church, 94 Somerset Street, New Brunswick. Entombment will follow in Holy Cross Burial Park, East Brunswick. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, October 16, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.
