Obituary of Elvera Renda

Elvera Renda died on May 28 at Parker at McCarrick in Somerset NJ. Born September 27, 1925, she lived her entire life in New Brunswick. A graduate of New Brunswick High School, she worked at Zonite, before retiring to raise her family. She devoted her life to raising her 2 daughters and caring for the family home. After her husband retired they cared for their 2 granddaughters, until they began school. The love of her husband, Peter, her daughters and her granddaughters was what made her the most happy. Elvera was an active member of the New Brunswick Senior Citizens, where she had many friends. She had a special gift of always seeing the bright side of every situation. A kind, gentle woman, she never had a bad thing to say about anyone. Though Earth has lost a beautiful, loving woman, Heaven has gained a shining star that is now reunited with the love of her life, her Prince Charming, Peter. Elvera was predeceased by her husband Peter who died in 2007, her parents Louis and Helen Keller, sister Jennie (Keller) Renda, and brothers, Johnny, Emil, Louis and Eddie. She is survived by her daughters, Janet Renda Sherby and her husband, John of East Brunswick, Angela Renda Burtenshaw and her husband, David of New Brunswick, granddaughters, Victoria Sherby, Emma Burtenshaw and her husband Adam Schreibman and one great granddaughter, Angelina Burtenshaw Schreibman. Elvera never liked the color black and always said she didn't want everyone wearing black at her funeral. Please wear something she would like, other than black. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 1 at 9 am from Boylan Funeral Home 188 Easton Ave. New Brunswick, followed by a 9:30 am Mass at St. Matthias R.C. Church in Somerset. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery in New Brunswick. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 31 from 4-7 pm at the funeral home.
