Obituary of Mary Jane Pfeiffer

Mary Jane Pfeiffer 78, of Edison, New Jersey passed away Monday January 29, 2024 in her home after a brief illness. Mary Jane, or MJ as she liked to be called, was born April 25, 1945 in New Brunswick, New Jersey to Elizabeth and John Nemeth. Growing up MJ was a majorette at Edison High School, graduating in 1963 and went on to have a successful career as a beautician. On April 24, 1965 she married the love of her life, William (Bill) Pfeiffer and together they raised their two daughters Christine Pfeiffer Stocke and Mary Jane (Jamie) Enoch. MJ was a devoted mother, serving as secretary of St Paul’s PTA where her girls attended grammar school just as their dad did. She was also a member of the St Paul’s bowling team and served as coach of their cheerleading squad where she revolutionized the program. She and Bill opened the Green Derby Tavern in 1981. Together they created a space where people came together in good times and bad and through their kindness changed many a life. After Bill’s passing in 2006, MJ went on to run the Green Derby until she retired in 2014. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, beloved husband and sister, Dorothy (Nemeth) Rybiski. MJ was a proud Jersey girl and will be missed by her surviving family; daughter, Christine Pfeiffer Stocke and her husband Dan Stocke; daughter, Jamie Enoch and her husband Wayne Enoch; and the two grandchildren that brightened each and every one of her days, Wayne K Enoch and Alaina Enoch.
