Obituary of Vologia Shutz

Vologia “Val” Shutz, age ninety of Edison, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at JFK University Medical Center, Edison. He was born in New Brunswick and raised in Piscataway before moving to Edison fifty-one years ago. He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for the United States Postal Service and was a mail carrier in Edison for over forty years, retiring in 1995. Val was an avid NY Yankees and Giants fan, bartender at Zaffy’s in Piscataway for forty years, owner of Val’s Luncheonette in Piscataway and Edison in the early 60’s & 70’s, and a member of the American Legion Father & Son Post 435 in Edison. He was predeceased by his parents, Bronislow and Natashia Shutz; his first wife, Ann (Blair) Shutz; his step- daughter, Kathy Maybin; and sister and brother-in-law, Vera and William Watrous. He is survived by his two sons, Brian of Edison and Randy and his wife Kim of Parlin; step-daughter, Diane Hicks and her husband Steve; son-in-law, Charles Maybin; six grandchildren, Keri Shutz, Katelyn Kohut, Kourtney Shutz, Jeffery Hicks, Charlie Maybin and Gina Shourt; and six great grandchildren, Hayden, Brynn, Olivia, Ashley, Brandon and Jake. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and close friends. Family and Friends are invited for a Memorial Gathering on Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at the Boylan Funeral Home, 10 Wooding Avenue, Edison.
