Ricky Dutka, age 74, passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2023, while in hospice care at Somerset Woods. A lifelong Edison resident, Ricky served 31 years on the Edison Police Department, retiring in 2008 as a Sergeant. Although the last few years have been beyond challenging for Ricky and those who loved him, he would want to be remembered for his love of family, including all his precious dogs, his pride as a police officer, and his dancing skills. Also unique to Ricky was his "Peter Pan" view of life, and his infectious smile. He is survived by his wife, Judy Amrein; and her daughters, Shayna Amrein and Shevonne Mennuti and husband Michael; grandsons, Michael and Gabriel; and niece, Laurie Catternicchio and her husband Pete. His dedicated brother, Alexander R. Dutka and his wife Carol McGuire Dutka; his nieces, Cassie Dutka Catenaro and her husband Thomas Catenaro, and their children, Lyla and Thomas Jr Catenaro, and Holly Dutka Ayash and her husband Simon Ayash, and their daughter Elizabeth Ayash; and many many cousins.. A Memorial Service will be held at Boylan Funeral Home, 10 Wooding Avenue, Edison, on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, between the hours of 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
