Obituary of William Joseph Spataro

Col. (Ret.) William J. Spataro, 84, of Highland Park passed away on Sunday October 22, 2023. He was born in New Brunswick. Bill, as he was known to friends, proudly served in the United States Army from 1961-1988, stationed primarily at Camp Kilmer in Edison. A man of great faith, he was an active volunteer with his local church community of St. Peter the Apostle and the Jesuit community at Saint Peter’s Prep in Jersey City. William was predeceased by his wife, Gail C. Spataro. He is survived by his sons, Matthew and his wife Laura of Riverton, NJ, and Thomas and his wife Jackie of Stow, MA; and six adoring grandchildren, Grace, Clare, Nicholas, Annabelle, William, and Lilly; as well as many extended family members and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Friday, October 27, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Boylan Funeral Home, 188 Easton Avenue, New Brunswick. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 28th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Church, New Brunswick. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Saint Peter’s Prep at spprep.org or the USA East Province of the Society of Jesus at jesuitseast.org
