Kahlan Samuels

Obituary of Kahlan Simone Samuels

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kahlan Simone Samuelson Friday, September 22nd, 2023. She departed from this world at the tender age of 30. Kahlan was a loving mother, a wise sister, a remarkable daughter, a kindred friend, and a divine beacon of resilience in the face of life's many challenges. Kahlan was born on March 18th, 1993 in Brooklyn, NY to Jennifer Hendrickson and Troy Samuels. Her adolescence was spent creating her own dance choreography, singing in recitals and her school choir, spending lots of time with her maternal cousins and creating elaborate short stories to share amongst her peers. She was spiritual, and constantly sought to understand how the Holy Spirit worked within her life. After graduating from East Brunswick High School in 2010, she would go on to truly discover herself, the world around her, and where she fit into it. To have the support of her mother, she moved down to Florida and gave birth to her son, Raphael Tyron Chrzanowski-Samuels, in 2019. She took on motherhood with the same passion she did everything else. She doted on her son, working hard to raise him connected to Spirit and teaching him about the ways of the world. She filled his days with outside activities like swimming, playing at the park, visiting the beach and enriching trips to the Glazer Children’s Museum. She spent long hours providing him with enriching academic activities; teaching him his numbers, letters, shapes, and colors. She made sure her son knew how loved and treasured he was, and how he was the brightest light within her darkest days. Her wisdom, resilience, and adaptability were qualities that inspired all who knew her. She possessed an innate curiosity towards understanding our roots; she believed that understanding where we came from would help us grow into better people. Kahlan’s love for her family and friends lead her to constantly seek internal growth, and promote growth within those around her. She believed in giving second chances, having known the same support countless times over. Though Kahlan's journey was tragically cut short, the impact she made on the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing her will honor her memory. Her passion, courage, and determination serve as a reminder that success can be defined in countless ways, and the depth of one's character is often the true measure of a person's worth. Kahlan leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and resilience that will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her son, family, and friends. Her memory will forever serve as a beacon of hope and a testament to the power of love, growth, and forgiveness in the face of adversity. Kahlan was preceded in death by her grandmother, Ruperta Octavia Hendrickson (59); her grandfathers, James Emanuel Hendrickson (86) and Abraham Samuels (73); her uncles, Robert B.
