Alice E. Hoey, age 93 of Edison, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at home. She was born and raised in the Vailsburg neighborhood of Newark, and was a resident of Edison since 1955. Alice was a Legal Secretary & Paralegal for Gibbon’s Law PC in Newark for 37 years, retiring at age 87. Her true passions in life included her family, love of God, and the Holy Catholic Church. She was involved with her beloved Guardian Angels Church in many ways throughout her life. Alice served as a Eucharistic Minister, was a member of the Rosary Altar Society, and the Legion of Mary. She also showed her devotion to the church by volunteering as a CCD teacher for many years, as well as being an active participant in a local nursing home program, where she delivered communion to its residents and assisted them to chapel services. During Alice’s career at Gibbon’s Law PC, she also volunteered at St. Johns Chapel in Newark. She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald G. Hoey in 1983; her sons, Kevin and Brian Hoey; and son-in-law, Richard Carroll. She is survived by her daughters, Catherine Larson and Madeline Carroll; her son-in-law; Jeff Larson; her grandchildren, Shawna Iazzetta and her husband Anthony Iazzetta, Brian Hoey Jr. and his wife Jamie Hoey, Alissa Carroll, Jeffery Larson, Reece Larson; her great grandchildren, Livianna Iazzetta, and Jameson Hoey; and her many nieces and nephews. Alice is known for her beautiful, caring, selfless, and giving nature. All who were blessed enough to encounter her warm-heartedness were truly impacted by her. She will be sincerely missed by all who knew and loved her. Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, September 28, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Boylan Funeral Home located at 10 Wooding Avenue, Edison. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Guardian Angels Church, followed by a Christian Burial at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be sent to the St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital.
