Obituary of David Lee Blackwell

David L. Blackwell passed away Thursday May 25, 2023 at his home in Fort Meyers Florida. Born in New Brunswick, he lived in Edison before enlisting in the Army. David served his country in the United States Army retiring with a rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was stationed in the United States as well as Haiti, Europe, mainly Germany, and finally South Korea. He also completed training as a US Army Airborne Ranger. Upon his retirement he continued his employment with US Army Contract Suppliers transferring to Tampa Headquarters in 2020 from which he made a final retirement. He was a world traveler and had many friends wherever he lived. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. David is survived by his mother, Hazel Blackwell, Edison; a sister, Diane Catsoulis, East Brunswick; along with his niece and nephew, Peter Catsoulis, East Brunswick and Stephanie Catsoulis, New Orleans, LA. He was predeceased by his father, Richard Blackwell, Edison; paternal grandparents, Albert and Mary (Kasko) Blackwell, Edison; maternal grandparents, David William and Kate (Moore) Scott, Meadowview, VA; and aunt, Bonnie Dye, Bristol, VA. There will be a private viewing 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Boylan Funeral Home, 10 Wooding Avenue, Edison. Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial that will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Guardian Angels Church, 37 Plainfield Avenue, Edison. Cremation will be private. Donations may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hyland Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10396.
