Obituary of Elizabeth P. Curry

Elizabeth P Curry, 95, passed away at her home in New Brunswick on Sunday May 16,2021. Born in New Brunswick she was a lifelong resident. She was a homemaker and a member of Sacred Heart RC Church in New Brunswick. Always active in the community, Betty led Cub Scout Pack 19 for several years in the 60s. In the 70s, Betty was the office manager for Apollo News and Apollo Landscaping. A woman of many talents and skills, Betty made mouths water for her culinary specialties, as well as her home baked treats, such as cream puffs, nut cups, and pies. She inspired her children to share her love of cooking and challenge themselves to try new recipes and be creative in the kitchen. Betty had a passion for landscaping and gardening. She spent countless hours turning the Curry home in Rutgers Village into a spectacular display of colors and lush textures of a multitude of flowers, shrubs, and trees. All were carefully arranged in beautiful beds overlooking the Raritan River. She made their home a paradise. Betty passed her joy of landscaping onto her children, and that gift became a family business for 44 years. Her secretarial skills also came in handy for the business throughout many of those years. Family meant everything to Betty, and she never hesitated to help out whenever she was needed. She treasured all the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as all her nieces, nephews and their children. Betty was predeceased by her husband, John; son, Edward; siblings, Thomas, John, Stanley, Edmund, Helen, Annie, Clara, Mary and Frances. She is survived by her children, Robert and his wife Linda, and Jeannemarie Curry; her daughter-in-law, Diane; grandchildren, David, Steven, Allison, Brian, and Laura and two great grandchildren Blair and Shannon; and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may visit on Tuesday, May 18th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at the Boylan Funeral Home, 188 Easton Avenue in New Brunswick. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 19 at 9:30 am at Sacred Heart RC Church in New Brunswick. Entombment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery in New Brunswick. Betty has requested everyone wear bright colors to the visitation and funeral.
