Obituary of Martha B. McCormick

Martha B. McCormick, 95, passed away peacefully with her family along her bedside at NJ Veterans Memorial Home, Edison, NJ on February 23, 2021. Martha was born in Old Bridge NJ and had lived most of her live in New Brunswick, NJ. She was employed as a beautician at Milazzo’s Beauty Salon in New Brunswick, NJ back the 1950’s. She was employed in her later years as a superior court clerk for Middlesex County , and it was there she got her nick name, “Mighty Mouse”, she was small, but a fierce, strong and independent woman. Martha was a member of the First Baptist Church of New Brunswick for over 50 years, and sang in the choir. She was a member of the Bluecoats Petticoats and an Avon lady. Her garden was her pride and joy; it never failed whatever the season. From raking leaves, planting flowers in her rock garden, to shoveling snow, Martha was out and about. She loved the fact that she got to see her granddaughters grow up. She enjoyed playing cards with them and sharing her love of reading with them. Martha was a world traveler that didn’t let anything get in her way. Martha was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Mary (Michon) Soberanski; her husband, John L. McCormick; her brothers, John, Edward, Chester, and Albert; and her sisters, Sophie Brustowicz and Helen Gayda. She is survived by her loving daughter, Hope and her husband Eduardo Vega of New Brunswick, NJ; her cherished granddaughters, Isabel and Basia Vega; her sister, Ann Yastine of South Bound Brook, NJ and Phoebe. Martha will be missed with many fond memories and stories by her family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Monday, March 1, 2021 from 10AM-12PM at Boylan Funeral Home, 188 Easton Avenue, New Brunswick. Funeral services will be held at 12:30PM at the First Baptist Church of New Brunswick. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the First Baptist Church of New Brunswick, NJ.
