Obituary of Josephine F. Liotta

Josephine F. Liotta, 96, of New Brunswick, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. She was born in Barnesboro, PA, and was a lifelong resident of New Brunswick. After high school graduation she worked for Ethicon, a division of Johnson & Johnson. She met her husband, Raymond Liotta, at a dance in Highland Park. They were married in 1948. She went back to work once her children were older, and worked as a Security Aide for the New Brunswick Board of Education. After retirement, she was very active in the New Brunswick Senior Center, where she worked as a greeter and also as a volunteer in the Outreach Program for the Elderly. She was a passionate bocce ball competitor, and was captain of the Senior Center team for many years. Josephine was awarded the New Brunswick Senior Citizen of the year in 1999. Josephine was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Liotta in 1988; and her siblings, Anthony, Dominic, Felix, Joseph, John and Philip. She is survived by her children, Raymond Liotta, wife Mary, and daughter Carol McCarty, husband Richard; along with her grandchildren, Alex and David Liotta. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, January 2, 2020 at 10AM at St. Peter the Apostle Church, New Brunswick. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, donations in Josephine’s memory can be made to the New Brunswick Senior Citizen Resource Center, 81 Huntington Street, New Brunswick, New Jersey 08901.
