Patricia Marie Dowgin, (Patti), 64, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2020 surrounded by family. Patti was born on December 30, 1955 in Dayton, NJ. She was the second of six children born to James and Shirley (Ryan) Dowgin who still reside in her childhood home. Patti was a loving mother and doting grandmother. She is survived by the loves of her life: her three boys and their wives, Vinny Giacalone (Madeline), Frank Giacalone (Brianna) and Joe Giacalone (Alyson). She was the beloved “Gigi” to her four grandchildren: Cooper, Addison, Jesse and Joanna. Patti was the center of her family’s universe and in addition to her parents and children she is also survived by her siblings and their spouses, Michael Dowgin (Cathy), Thomas Dowgin (Joan), James Dowgin (Maria), Joan Hilovsky (Larry) and Ann Reilly (George). She was adored and will be missed by her many nieces and nephews. Patti graduated from St. Peter’s School of Nursing in New Brunswick, NJ in 1977 as had her mother and paternal grandmother. She worked as a school nurse in the South Brunswick School District for over 20 years. She was happiest when working on home improvement projects, helping others, or sharing a bag of peanut M&Ms. She was always fashionable and had a laugh that was contagious and lit up a room. Rather than being remembered for her optimistic attitude during her brave battle with cancer, she would want you to think of her when you wash your car, buy a cup of coffee, or help a friend.
