Obituary of Bernal Tanos Maroun

Bernal Tanos Maroun, of Somerset, passed away in the comfort of his home on July 5th, 2020. He was 61. Born in Kherbet Kanafar, Lebanon, he came to the United States in 2006. He lived in New Brunswick before moving to Somerset. Bernal worked hard his whole life spending the last 13 years working at PJ’s Grill with his brothers-in-law. He was a devoted family man who worked tirelessly to make sure his family had everything they needed. He made sure his friends and guests were always having a good time in his home. His proudest accomplishments in life were marrying his son, welcoming his granddaughter and building his retirement home in his beloved village where he had hoped to retire with his wife. Surviving are his loving wife of 34 years, Lilian Saber; his sons, Rodolphe and his wife Sonia Maroun, and Patrick; his granddaughter Layla; his brothers, Tony and Chamoun Maroun; his sisters, Joumana Aoun and Violette Khawand and their families; his parents-in law, Antoine and Therese Saber; his brothers-in-law, Mounir and his wife Rene, Kamil and his wife Marisol, and Ziad Saber and their families. He is survived by ten nieces and nephews, Chris, Anthony, Tony, Elie, Aline, Stephanie, Elie, Alexander, Teresa and Claritta. He is predeceased by his parents Tanios (2000) and Samira Maroun (2020), and his beloved niece Lynda (2018). Also surviving him are his close friends and family; John Estephan and family, Abdul Eid and family, Roukouz Naoum and family, Fadi Abou Hammoud and family, and the Khoury, Nemer, Saber, Chaddad, Naim, Tohme, Nahhas, Ghannam, Eid (of Ohio), Julien, Shamata, Chamoun, Chedid, Chaaya, Nasrallah, Mansour, Janasik (of Poland) and Manier families. Friends and relatives may call on Wednesday, July 8th, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at The Boylan Funeral Home, 188 Easton Avenue in New Brunswick. A Mass will be held on Thursday, July 9th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Sharbel Maronite Catholic Church in Somerset, followed by burial at the Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway.
