Obituary of Martha Eichert

Martha A. Eichert, (née Smalley,) 94, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. Martha was born and raised in South River, NJ before moving to Edison where she resided for more than 60 years. She was a graduate of South River High School. Martha was a homemaker. She had taught Sunday School for many years at Piscatawaytown Baptist Church. She also worked as a clerk at Rutgers University and as a hostess at Howard Johnson's Restaurant. She was a member of the Edison Senior Citizen Club. Martha was predeceased by her husband, John F. Eichert in 1997, to whom she was married for 53 years; six siblings, Robert, Raymond and Gustav Smalley, Caroline Chernowetz, Dorothy Voorhees and Meta Kellenberger; and son-in-law John R. Latham. She is survived by her three children: Linda Latham of Parlin; Nora Stryker and her husband Gary, of Edison; and Kenneth Eichert and his wife, Cathy, also of Edison; 5 grandsons, David Stryker and his wife Marisa, of Edison; Eric Stryker, of Dallas, Texas; Matthew, William and Jeffrey Eichert, of Edison; 2 great-grandchildren, Shane and Samantha Stryker; two sisters-in-law, Gail Smalley and Ada Smalley, one brother-in-law, George Nadra; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 22nd from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Boylan Funeral Home, 10 Wooding Ave., Edison, NJ. Interment will take place on Monday, December 23rd at Franklin Memorial Park in North Brunswick following a brief service at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to: Alzheimer's Association Greater New Jersey, 400 Morris Ave, Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834 or American Diabetes Association, P.O.
