Obituary of Alexander Nyers

Alexander Nyers, of Edison, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home at Menlo Park. Alexander was born in Keasbey, and had been a resident of Edison for more than 60 years. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean War. Al, as his friends called him, was known as a friendly and generous man who was active in his community. Having a great love of sports, Al for many years served as an umpire, as well as serving as an usher at St. Matthew The Apostle Church. He also owned and operated his own business, A & J Floor Sanding, until his retirement. Alexander was predeceased by his beloved wife, Rose Marie (Sue). He is survived by his son, Alexander Nyers, Jr. and his wife Patty; his daughter, Pamela Ortalano and her husband Gary; grandchildren, Alexander John, Danielle and Matthew; and his great grandchildren, Alexandra and Penelope. He was a kind and gentle soul who will be missed by all who knew and loved him. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and deep gratitude to the staff at the NJ Veterans Memorial Home at Menlo Park for the loving care he received.
