Obituary of Dorothy D. Gombas
Dorothy D. Gombas, 94, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2019. The daughter of Rose (Hatt) and Albert C. Brunner, Sr., Dorothy was born on December 16, 1924 in New Brunswick, attended St. Ladislaus School and graduated from St. Peter’s High School. Dorothy was married to Joseph J. Gombas for 60 years until his death in 2007. She worked for the City of New Brunswick for 30 years, and was Principal Assessing Clerk upon her retirement in 1987. Following retirement, Dorothy and her husband volunteered at St. Peter’s Hospital for many years.
Dorothy and Joe enjoyed travel, especially their winter cruises to the Caribbean and trips with Msgr. Crupi’s group at St. Mary Mt. Virgin Church. She seldom missed lunch dates with ‘The Golden Girls’, from City Hall.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, and her brother, Albert C., Jr. (Sonny). She is survived by her children, Dorothy and Stephen Kotler, Daniel, Serena and Ray Dahl, and Ruth Haller Gombas; grandchildren, Cassandra Dahl (Brian)Reed, Cindy Browder(Andrew Koppisch), Kristy Browder (Stephen) Edwards, Samantha Dahl (Paul) Roosken, Kate Gombas (Daniel) Balboni, Stephen Dahl (Lexi Whelan); and seven great-grandchildren, Zachary, Elena, Cassidy, Gabriel, Colton, Gemma and Avelyn. She is also survived by her loving sisters, Alma Edly and Katherine Brunner and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, January 24th from 3 to 6 PM at Boylan Funeral Home, 188 Easton Avenue, New Brunswick. A prayer service will begin at 10AM on Friday January 25th at Boylan Funeral Home. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Brunswick.
