Obituary of Sophie J. Lonyszyn
Sophie J. Lonyszyn, 91, of Somerset passed away peacefully at home on June 23, 2018. Sophie was born on September 27, 1926 in Hludno, Ukraine to Nykola and Olena Jarema. She was a member of the Franklin Township Senior Citizens, the Sisterhood and Choir at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church and the Ukrainian National Woman’s League. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Sophie was predeceased by her husband George in 2005; her parents; and several siblings.
She is survived by her daughters, Elaine (William) Erbey, Nancy (David) Roberts, Mary (Greg) Walkiewicz and Sonya (Jim) Kopliner; along with her grandchildren, Christine, Scott, Mark, Katie, Tim and Brian; and great grandchildren, Nicholas, Andrew, Thomas, Hailey, Lillian, Avery, Emma, Kayla and Tegan. Sophie is also survived by many relatives in Ukraine.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, June 26 from 3:00-7:00pm, with the Panahida at 6PM, at Boylan Funeral Home, 188 Easton Avenue in New Brunswick.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 27 at 10:00am at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 80 Livingston Avenue in New Brunswick. Interment will follow at St. Andrew’s Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery in South Bound Brook, NJ.
