Dolores Zayas

Obituary of Dolores Zayas

Dolores Amelia Zayas, affectionately known as Grandma Z, died peacefully in her
home on Monday April 2 nd , 2018 in Piscataway NJ. She was 88 years old.

She was born April 24 th , 1929 in Brooklyn NY.

Dolores believed that faith and family were the most important things in life. She exemplified this verse in Galatians 5:22, “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, goodness and faithfulness ”.

She loved her family and told them often in word and in deed. She was born an only child and always hoped for a big family. God blessed her with two beloved children, Susan Ottenstroer and Bill Zayas, 8 grandchildren Christopher Ottenstroer, Corinne Rhodes, Amanda Mancusi, Lindsey Steding, William (BJ) Zayas, Timothy Zayas, Ryan Steding and Bryan Zayas and 8 great grandchildren Alexandra, Cadence, Amelia, Emily, Adrienne, Ma’Roc, Aiden and Luke.

Dolores was full of joy and never in a bad mood. Her joy was most apparent when she was sharing pictures and stories of all her children, grandchildren and great‑grandchildren. She was so proud of them.

Dolores created a home that was inviting and peaceful . She never raised her voice, and was always waiting with open arms to give a hug. Sleepovers at her house always produced the best night sleep.

Dolores was a good listener and was patient . She worked hard to support her family working for 30 years as a Customer Service Representative for Scientific Products/American Hospital Supply.

Dolores it seemed only had goodness in her. She loved to feed her family by making Gravy, meatballs and macaroni for Sunday dinners, brownies or bringing bagels for breakfast. She never left someone’s home after visiting with dishes in the sink.

Dolores faithfully attended Mass every Saturday at 5:15. She drew her strength from the Lord and never wavered in her beliefs.
