Obituary of Arnold Torre

Arnold Torre of Edison, N.J. died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, N.J., surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 25 at 9 a.m. from the Boylan Funeral Home, 10 Wooding Ave., Edison, followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass at St. Matthew's R.C. Church in Edison. Entombment will be in Woodbridge Memorial Gardens in Woodbridge. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, Oct. 24 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Born in Newark, N.J, Mr. Torre lived in Nutley, N.J. before moving to Edison 42 years ago. Mr. Torre retired as a chief petty officer from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service. He then worked as a claims supervisor at J.L. Hammett School Supplies in Union, N.J. for 20 years before retiring 16 years ago. Mr. Toree was a devoted parishioner of St. Matthew's R.C. Church in Edison and enjoyed making palm crosses every Palm Sunday, distributing over 100 to Parish families. He became the commander of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Program in Perth Amoby after commanding the unit for over 20 years. Mr. Torre was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was predeceased by his parents, Carmello and Mary Torre, and a brother, Vincent Torre. Surviving are his loving wife of 51 years, Sandra (Lipson) Torre; two daughters, Karen Torre of Somerset, N.J. and Lisa and her husband, Brian LaManna of Princeton, N.J., and two grandchildren, Beau and Abigail.
