Obituary of James L. Varick
James L. Varick, 77, of Edison, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at AristaCare at Cedar Oaks in South Plainfield. Born in Jersey City, he was a resident of Edison most of his life.
Mr. Varick spent many years in ministry and service to others. He served as Chaplain at Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville, Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, and most recently was the Director of Pastoral Care at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch. He truly was a people person and loved making people laugh. He was a communicant at St. Matthew’s R.C. Church in Edison. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was predeceased by his parents William and Mary Varick, and his sister Billie Adriance. Surviving are his beloved wife of 50 years Mary Varick (nee Peterson) of Edison; his daughter Teresa Hooper and her husband Joseph of Florida; his three grandchildren Jimmy, Gregory, and Emma; his sisters Barbara Mackanic of Howell and Mary Pisaniello of Black Lick, OH; as well as his nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Friday, December 29 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Boylan Funeral Home 10 Wooding Ave., Edison. A Mass will be held on Saturday, December 30 at 11 am at St. Matthew’s R.C. Church in Edison. Cremation will be private.
