Obituary of Leonard Witkowski

Leonard M. Witkowski of Edison died Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at Kindred Hospital in Rahway. He was 80 years old. Born and raised in Wilkes Barre, Pa., he came to New Jersey living in Edison for the past 57 years. Mr. Witkowski was employed as a bus driver for Ryder and 1st Student bus companies from 1993 until his retirement in 2008. Leonard was a Navy veteran serving during the Korean War where he was a Yeoman on the U.S.S. Edisto. He was a communicant of St. Matthew's R.C. Church in Edison and enjoyed going to casinos and playing cards with friends. He was predeceased by his wife Joanne M. (Kochuba) Witkowski in 1999 and 2 sisters, Bernie Kistler and Ann Marie Yolak. Surviving are 2 sons; Leonard and his wife Jeanette of Westerly R.I., Mark and his wife Louise of Aberdeen; 2 daughters, Mary Jo and her husband Doug Krell of Hamilton Square and Diane and her husband John Sullivan of Belmont N.C. Also surviving are his devoted companion Ida Nigro and 6 loving grandchildren Beth Ann, Matthew, Travis, Allie, Dana and John Paul. A memorial mass will be held Tuesday, August 13, at 9:30 AM from St. Matthew's R.C. Church in Edison. Committal will be at 12:30 PM in the chapel at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown, North Hanover Township, NJ. Memorial contributions may be made in the name of Joanne M. Witkowski to St. Matthew's School, 81 Seymour Avenue, Edison, NJ 08817. Funeral arrangements are by the Boylan Funeral Home, 10 Wooding Avenue, Edison, NJ.
