Obituary of Howard Parusa Jr.

Howard Parusa Jr. passed away peacefully at RWJ University Hospital in New Brunswick on July 16th surrounded by family & friends. He was 61. Born and raised in Jersey City and then East Brunswick, he was a lifelong resident of NJ. Howie had a unique ability to make people smile with his quick wit, sarcasm and tremendous sense of humor. Making people laugh was something that came naturally to him. He was a very proud and active member of the Edison Elks Lodge #2487. He has held several Officer Positions and served on many committees over the past 11 years, including Exalted Ruler in 2010-2011, and most recently serving as a 5 year Trustee. Howie has been recognized time and again with awards, citations and commendations for his loyal, dedicated volunteerism to the Elks. He was happiest when cooking for friends and family, spending time with his closest companion, his Rottweiler, Penny and was passionate about participating in any Elks fundraising, especially when benefiting special needs children. His favorite retreat was his family's lake house located in the Endless Mountain Region in NE PA. Howard is survived by his devoted wife, Christine Parusa; beloved parents, Howard & Delores Parusa; loving daughter Jeanne Parusa, her husband Casey Dey & their son Danny Dey; son Michael Parusa, his wife Erin & their children, Tea, Michael, Bella & Max Parusa; his step-daughter, Nicole O'Brien & her husband Dan; as well as his siblings, Susan Whiting, Steven Parusa, Tommy Parusa & his wife Linda, Robert Parusa; and his godchildren, Jessica Parusa & Grace Whiting.
