Obituary of John Stanley

John Stanley of Jamesburg, NJ passed away on Friday, August, 22, 2014, surrounded by his family at St. Peter's University Hospital. He was 79. John was born on May 18, 1935, in Newark, NJ to the late Frank Stanley and Gertrude McKenzie Stanley. He was raised in Englishtown, NJ and lived most of his life in the East Windsor-Hightstown area. He was a graduate of Jamesburg High School before joining the United States Marine Corps in 1955. He took much pride in his role as a Marine and carried this with him throughout his life. After the USMC, John spent many years working in the automotive parts industry. His hobbies included bowling and watching his favorite daytime shows. Most important to him, though, was spending time with his family. John was very close to his siblings and his many nieces and nephews. He enjoyed chatting on the phone and having frequent visits with them all. John was the oldest of seven siblings. He is survived by his brother Lou Stanley and his wife Evelyn of Monroe Township, NJ; his sister, Frances McElvaine and her husband Bob of Blackwood, NJ; his brother-in-law, Howard Austin, of Frederica, DE; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sisters Olive Austin and Grace Louk and brothers, James and Robert Stanley. Memorial services and interment will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of Boylan Funeral Home, New Brunswick.
