Robert F. Nelson of Metuchen died Friday, June 14th at J.F.K. Haven Hospice in Edison. He was 80 years old. Born in Rahway he has lived in Metuchen the last 47 years. Mr. Nelson was employed as a machinist at Anhauser-Busch in Newark for 30 years retiring in 1993. He was a graduate of Rahway High School. His memberships include the Metuchen Volunteer Fire Co., and NJ State Exempt Firemen's Association. He enjoyed working in his machine shop, astronomy, and loved playing the guitar. Robert was predeceased by his parents Francis J. and Bessie Nelson, a brother William and a sister Althea Byerly. Surviving are his loving wife of 53 years Jean, a daughter Jeanette and her husband Joseph Kovach of Edison, 1 grandson Joseph Robert Kovach. Also surviving are several nieces and 1 nephew. Funeral services are private under the direction of the Boylan Funeral Home in Edison.
