Vincent “Phillip” Hozeny, 85, and Joan Hozeny, 83, both passed away on March 9, 2023 at JFK Medical Center, Edison. Vincent passed away after a lengthy illness, and Joan passed away shortly after hearing the news of her beloved husband’s passing. Vincent was born and raised in Perth Amboy, Joan was born in Woodbridge, and they were longtime residents of Edison. Vincent served in the United States Army followed by time as a reservist. He was a graduate of Rutgers University, attaining a Master’s Degree in Business and Advance Mathematical Studies, and was a Product Development Specialist for Colgate-Palmolive. He later worked as a Research and Development Manager for Block Drug Company, Jersey City. Joan was an Administrative Assistant and Secretary for Cathedral of St Francis of Assisi Parish, Metuchen, in both the rectory and St Francis Cathedral School, and was the personal secretary to the Diocesan Bishop. She was active for many years in many capacities at St Francis Cathedral School while her children attended school there. From 1991-2008, she was a Benefits Analyst in the Human Resources Department of Rutgers University. Vincent enjoyed Soduko and “Brain-Teaser” Puzzles, and was an avid golfer. Joan enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and they both enjoyed the company of canine companions throughout their lives. Together, they enjoyed watching game shows, going on cruises, and taking trips to Parx Casino. Vincent and Joan were longtime parishioners of Cathedral of St Francis of Assisi Parish. Above all, they were loving and doting parents and grandparents, and will be missed by all who knew and loved them. They are survived by their son, Jeffrey; their daughter, Joanne; grandchildren, Nate, Phoebe, and Wyatt; Vincent’s sister, Denise; and their canine-companion, Angel. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 15, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Boylan Funeral Home, 10 Wooding Avenue, Edison, NJ. A Funeral Service will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home, and cremation will be private. Cremains will be interred privately at a later date at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Perth Amboy.
