Obituary of John M. Cigas III

John M. Cigas III, 64, of Edison, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022 surrounded by his loving family after a valiant battle of various ailments. He was taken from his family way too soon. John was born in Perth Amboy and graduated from Perth Amboy High School in 1975. He loved playing on the football team in high school and was voted "Mr. Touchdown" his senior year. He was a CDL Truck Driver for JB Hunt. In his younger days he loved playing modified baseball and softball for Gast, Pelicans A.C., Up The Creek, Hibernians, among other teams. He would also help coach softball teams his wife was on and then later also coach when his son played sports in which he immensely enjoyed. He truly loved coaching his son all throughout the years and being able to be with him. He also loved bowling and was so proud when he bowled a perfect 300 game in the Men's Friday Night League at Majestic Lanes. John's passion included the NY Mets and NY Giants. John also was a season ticket holder for the NY Giants and was so happy when he could take his son to his first professional football game. He enjoyed the tailgating and going to the games at Giants Stadium along with other family members. John loved history, going to Aruba with his wife, and all the get-togethers and joking around with his family and friends on Saturday night. He was such a proud grandpa to Liam albeit way too short of a time. He also loved his furry grandson, Cooper. Both were the light of his life. John so loved and enjoyed his family and his friends. He was an amazing husband, father, grandpa and friend to all. Also from his work family his wife was told how he had a kind soul and brought smiles to people's faces. John was predeceased by his parents, John M. Jr. and Nancy Cigas. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Kerry Ann Cigas; son, Cory Cigas and his wife Gabriella; grandson, Liam Cigas (and Cooper); sister/brother-in-law, Nancy and Jim Nickerson; brother/sister-in-law, Jerry and Janice Papp; sister-in-law/brother-in-law, Kathy "Kandie" and Patrick Wallace; nephews, John and Joseph Nickerson; niece/nephew-in-law, Meghan Wallace and Philip Cox; niece/nephew-in-law, Melissa and Robert Long.
