Obituary of Grace Ciotta

Grace Ciotta, 89, of Edison, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022 at JFK Medical Center. She was born in Plainfield to the late Anthony and Theresa Rigante. Grace was the secretary of the Blood Bank at Muhlenberg Hospital for twenty-five years, including during 9/11/2001. Grace was an incredibly skilled, self-taught seamstress and continued her love of sewing after her retirement. Masterful projects included wedding gowns, bridesmaids’ dresses, formal wear for the Scholarship Balls she attended, outdoor furniture cushions and the list is endless, with her last undertaking being a beautiful, silk lined vestment for a priest friend…how appropriate! Her true passion was her love of God and His Holy Catholic Church. She volunteered in every possible way. Grace was the sacristan, a lector, Historian, President of the Rosary Alter Society, CCD teacher for over ten years, active member of the Right to Life committee, an auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary and she even joyfully did gardening at her beloved Guardian Angels Church. Her commitment to charity did not end there. “Amazing Grace” loved to minister to the sick and dying. For all of her adult life she had one beneficiary after another of her selfless care, which she provided in a multitude of ways. She was an Angel on Earth and is now an Angel in Heaven! Grace was predeceased by her brother, Mauro A. Rigante; and two grandsons, Joseph and Mathew. She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Paul and Joyce Ciotta, Bruce and Vicki Ciotta, Diane and Tommy Di Lonardo and Pamela and Jay Schmidt; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Geraldine Rigante. Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Friday, August 26, 2022 from 3pm-7pm at Boylan Funeral Home, 10 Wooding Ave., Edison. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, 10am at Guardian Angels Church, 37 Plainfield Ave., Edison. Cremation services will be private.
