Obituary of Teresa R. Gazire

Teresa Rose (Korey) Gazire, 95, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in New Brunswick in 1926 where she attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and was a graduate of St. Peter's High School, Class of 1945. Teresa attended many class reunions and was able to meet monthly for lunch with her fellow alumni well into her 80's. She lived in Edison for over 60 years. She enjoyed many great trips with her sorority sisters prior to her marriage. In 1952, Teresa married the love of her life Ernest Gazire. They moved to Edison where they raised two daughters. Teresa worked in retail for many years, first at Sears, Roebuck and Company, and later at W.T. Grant. She was later employed by Mattel, where she was a quality control inspector. She retired from Barbara George Fashions, a mail order business. Most people knew her as Terry. She enjoyed doing yard work and taking care of her home. In the summer, she could be seen cutting her grass with her electric mower at the age of 88. Neighbors would offer to do it for her, but she would politely decline saying that this was her exercise. She enjoyed playing Pokeno, bingo and other card games. She loved doing word searches. Terry was known for her Lebanese cooking. She loved making stuffed grape leaves and everyone looked forward to her Tabuleh and Lebanese cookies. Terry was a communicant of St. Matthew's Church in Edison. She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society, and volunteered for many years selling soda at the church bingo. Terry was married to her "honey" Ernie for 48 years. They loved each other, stood by each other, and were partners in life until God called Ernie home in 2000. The joy in Terry's life came from her daughters and their husbands, her five grandchildren and their spouses and her two great grandchildren. Her love for them, and her pride in their accomplishments was immeasurable. As each new person joined the family, she welcomed them with open arms. Her children's friends and families became part of her family. Terry believed in God. She prayed for those she loved, and asked God to watch over them. Her faith was strong. She believed that God was watching over her and was thankful for each new day she was given. Terry always had a positive outlook. She was predeceased by her husband, parents and siblings. Surviving are her daughters, Carol Haring (Martin), and Nancy Fiore (Nicholas). She had five grandchildren, Dan Haring (Melissa), Stephanie Patterson (Mike), Jessica Fiore, Bryan Haring (Alexa) and Nicole Fiore (Jon). She had two great-grandchildren, Mason and Josie.
