Obituary of Nan Takacs

Nan (née Edmunds,) Takacs, 99, died on Monday, February 24, 2014, at the Francis E. Parker Memorial Home in Piscataway. Born in McKenney, VA, she lived there before moving to New Brunswick 70 years ago Nan was employed as a first grade school teacher for 32 years, most recently at the Nathan Hale School in New Brunswick. She retired in 1974. Nan was an active member of the Magyar Reformed Church in New Brunswick. She received her Normal Professional Certificate for teaching from Longwood University in Virginia and was a member of Alpha Pi Sigma sorority; she received her Bachelors in Education from Rutgers University in New Brunswick. Nan was predeceased by her loving husband Alexander Takacs, Sr. in 1999, and a son, Alexander Takacs, Jr. Esq. in 2013, as well as 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Takacs Nobile of Tinton Falls; a brother, Arthur Edmunds of Harrisonburg, VA; 3 grandsons, Justin Marx and wife Dr. Tara Shelby of Seattle WA, Keith Marx and his wife Erika of Oakhurst, and Garrett Marx of Jersey City. Also surviving is great grandson, Jaxson Marx of Oakhurst. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 1, at 11:00 a.m. from the Boylan Funeral Home, 188 Easton Avenue in New Brunswick, burial will follow at Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick. Relatives and friends may call at the Funeral Home on Saturday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Magyar Reformed Church, 175 Somerset Street, New Brunswick, NJ 08901; or donate a book to a First Grade of your choice.
