Obituary of Frank M. Rice

Frank M. Rice sadly passed away on Saturday January 22, 2022. Frank was born on September 25, 1927 to the late William Austin Rice and Mary Jane Nunn Rice in Edison where he was a lifelong resident for his 94 years. Frank was a WWII veteran and served at Fort Hancock, Fort Benning and Red Stone Arsenal with the USA Medical Corp. He transported German and Italian POW’s over eastern and southern states. Following his honorable discharge, he was the owner of Frank M. Rice Construction and was a long time member of Operating Engineers Local #825. Frank was a founding member of the American Legion Post #435 and a former volunteer Chief for Raritan Engine Co. #1, as well as a member of the Exempt Fireman’s Association. In his free time Frank was an avid hunter and NASCAR fan. Frank will always be remembered for his great smile. Frank was predeceased by his brothers, Bill Rice and Richard Rice; his wife, Elsie Kapler Rice; and his son, Frank A. Rice. He is survived by his son, James E. Rice; daughters, Barbara Kobetitsch and her husband Robert and Laverne Williams; grandchildren, Lisa, Lori, Jennifer, Debra and Tom; 9 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Monday January 31, 2022 from 9-11AM at Boylan Funeral Home, 10 Wooding Avenue, Edison. Funeral services will held at the funeral home at 11AM. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Brunswick.
